From Trentino in the north there is a wonderful example of a full and fruity Pinot Grigio - this is what Pinot Grigio is supposed to taste like! From the same region a classic local red wine Bottega Vinai Teroldego Rotaliano. From the Piedmont region we have a classic Gavi, bursting with fresh fruit, a great wine for drinking by itself or even better when matched with food. The red from the same region is a Nebbiolo Alba from Poderi Colla, full and rich and at its best matched with rich food and tomato based sauces. From Veneto comes a Pra Soave, a crisp, complex and full flavoured white based on the Garganega grape from a well respected producer. For the finale we had to go to Tuscany for a fresh and fruity, unoaked Sangiovese from an excellent producer. Match it with spicy salami or pepperoni and you have a classic.
