We have included a couple of South African classic whites, a River Garden Sauvignon Blanc and a fruity but elegant unoaked Chardonnay from the vineyards of Gary and Kathy Jordan in Stellenbosch. The third white is a crisp and fruity Chenin Blanc, full of melon and peach fruit and great with far eastern foods. For the reds we have included a rich and fruity Cabernet Sauvignon from the Painted Wolf 'wine pack'. The other two reds both come from the Edgbaston estate in Stellenbosch. David Finlayson the owner and winemaker has been experimenting with blending different varieties and the results are stunning. The Pepper pot is rich and heavy and a blend of Syrah, Mourvedre and Tannat. Best to give it plenty of time to breath and open out before you drink. The Berry Box is a fruity blend of 5 different varieties, including the fragrant Cabernet Franc and the dark berry flavours of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Classic examples of what a truly gifted winemaker can produce.
