About Us

We cater for the more discerning and adventurous wine lover and as such, you are unlikely to find our wines on the supermarket shelves. We are continually searching for the smaller, individual vineyards and suppliers who have value for money wines, in all price ranges.

We also specialise in vegetarian, vegan and Kosher wines. Wines suitable for vegetarians and vegans are clearly marked in the tasting notes. Smithfield Wine provide a FREE personal delivery service within a 25 mile radius of central Manchester. Should you live outside of this area a charge will be made for delivery within mainland United Kingdom. We can only ship within mainland UK.

We organise formal or informal wine tasting events for wine clubs, social clubs and corporate hospitality functions. Should you need further advice or information on wines from our cellars, please feel free to contact us by phone, fax, or email. We will always give unbiased, down to earth opinions on any of our wines.

Making A Purchase

Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.

We accept credit card payment. If you are shopping from North America or anywhere else, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to US Dollars or your own currency.

We accept Visa and Mastercard. There is a surcharge of 3% for American Express. This will be added to your payment when we ship your order. We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. Back ordered items are not charged until they are shipped. You may send your credit card information via phone, fax, snail mail or over the Internet.

When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.

Delivery Schedule

We use a courier service to deliver our wines to the British Mainland. We only ship within mainland UK. Delivery is normally made within 7 working days of receipt of order. If we cannot deliver within 30 days of receipt of your order we will inform you immediately and agree another time for delivery. Should we fail to agree, we will offer you a complete refund.

The charges for this service are outlined below. Please note that 1 case = 12 bottles of wine. A surcharge will apply for certain postcodes, mainly the Scottish Highlands. Delivery is charged at £7.80 for the first case and increases incremently for each subsequent case or part thereof.

Please ensure the correct address is provided and recipients are able to accept deliveries. Refused and failed deliveries will be returned back to Smithfield Wine at a cost of £14.50 payable by the buyer. If no-one is available to receive the goods our carrier will notify the recipient of the attempted delivery with a "Card" placed through the letter box. If the items are not claimed within 5 days they will be returned to Smithfield Wine at a cost of £14.50 payable by the buyer.

With the exception of gifts we offer a FREE personal wine delivery service to customers within a 25 mile radius of Central Manchester.

Back Orders

If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.

Tax Charges

For orders made from the UK or the European Union, 17.5% VAT is added. All other orders are VAT free.

Secure Online Ordering

We process credit/debit card orders using SSL technology via a secure server. Orders are processed manually by ourselves NOT by a third party clearing house. For your security, customer details are NOT stored on a database that can be accessed from the Internet. When you reach the stage in the ordering process where you are required to enter your card details, you will automatically be redirected to a page on a secure server. A golden padlock will appear on your browser, indicating that it is safe to proceed.

We recommend that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer when accessing our shops. If you are still uneasy about giving your credit card details over the Internet we would be happy to accept your order by phone, fax or in person. We also accept payments by cash or cheque.

Customer Care

We are committed to providing the highest levels of customer satisfaction. We are very interested in your comments about our products and service. We will respond to all complaints/comments within 5 working days providing a likely timescale for resolving any disputes and will keep you informed on the progress of your complaint. All matters will be treated fairly and in complete confidence.

Privacy Statement

Smithfield Consulting Ltd. do not disclose buyers' information to third parties other than when order details are processed as part of the order fulfilment. In this case, the third party will not disclose any of the details to any other third party.

Cookies are used on this shopping site to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart, to store delivery addresses if the address book is used and to store your details if you select the 'Remember Me' Option. They are also used after you have logged on as part of that process. You can turn off cookies within your browser by going to 'Tools | Internet Options | Privacy' and selecting to block cookies. If you turn off cookies, you will be unable to place orders or benefit from the other features that use cookies. Data collected by this site is used to:
