Azcunaga Semi Crianza 2001
The first of 2 award winning wines from this producer. New to the UK market but picking up medals in shows all over Spain. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with 6 months spent in US and French oak to give it added complexity. It has a lovely rich, deep ruby colour and lots of complex berry aromas on the nose combined with spice and toasty vanilla from the oak. It has a better length than you might expect for a relatively young wine and well balanced tannins that give it depth and body.

The second award winning wine from this producer and an even better one! Having spent longer in its oak and bottle before release this wine has had chance to mature and create a quite classic drink. A slightly darker red than its younger brother it has all the berry fruit of the younger wine but combined with tobacco aromas and well rounded vanillan oak. It has a good length and will keep and mature for a few years yet - if you can keep it that long. An altogether lovely wine from Spain that manages to respect its traditions and still produce a wine for modern international tastes.

Cherry red in colour with purple hues. Aroma and varietal expression of black fruits with a background of petals and underbrush. Full-bodied and harmonius with a pleasant finish.
