Raimat Chardonnay 2003/5
Raimat Chardonnay 2003/5 is a 100% Chardonnay with a lovely clean buttery yellow colour. The nose has rich aromas of tropical fruits and a hint of spice. It has spent a short time in contact with oak, but the fruit is not diminished, rather it has an added complexity. There is a good, cleanly balanced acidity and an excellent length.

Raimat Cabernet Sauvignon 2001
A wonderful dark purple colour with all the signature aromas of blackcurrant and other black fruits. The fruit is not over-awed by the oak but there is a hint of spice and vanilla, which adds good complexity. The tannins are solid but with excellent balance and provide the wine with good maturing potential. Raimat Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 is a well crafted wine from this very good winery.

Raimat Tempranillo 2001
Its dark cherry colour is the result of exceptional ripeness. The soil and microclimate of the vineyard help the richness and the aromatic qualities of the Tempranillo grape, whose fruit has been nurtured in the vineyard for optimum quality. Intense black cherry colour. Raimat Tempranillo 2001 has various and complex aromas of black plum and spices. Powerful and harmonious in the mouth: good presence and velvety tannins that promise an outstanding improvement in the bottle.

What can I say about this wine? Apart from - it is the best New World Pinot Noir I have tasted! It is a limited edition wine with only small amounts coming into the UK.
It is made from grapes from clone vines that have proved best suited to the Mt Rosa vineyard and it has been stored in selected barrels of mainly new French oak. This care and attention to detail has produced a wine with a rich and powerful nose full of black currant and dark chocolate. On the palate it continues with the dark berry fruits but adds a smooth, warm richness of texture to produce a wonderful mouth feel. It has a long, velvety and lifted finish. Well worth the money.

Mount Rosa Pinot Gris Central Otago 2008

This is beautifully produced by Dean Shaw, the Mt Rosa winemaker. It has a glorious nose, filled with warm spices and citrus. In the mouth it has a balance of peachy fruit and those warm spices with hints of biscuity yeast. A good finish that lasts well in the mouth. A great wine for drinking with far eastern foods.
