Wine from Thailand

You may think it is a bit of a novelty, wine from Thailand but prepare to be pleasantly surprised. Given the climate in Thailand you would assume it was not conducive to vine growing. It is because of the climate that they actually get 2 harvests a year from the vines. Wine in Thailand is not new, but it is a relatively new import to the UK wine market. Some of the grape varieties are well known – like Colombard and Shiraz, some less well known – like Pokdum and Malaga. The grapes come from a number of vineyards, including the Hua Hin Hills estate which used to be an elephant corral and the Pak Chong estate. So next time you are eating Thai food why not drink Thai wine with it?
