Barkan Reserve Carignan 2007 is made from grapes harvested from 25 year old vines, super-dark royal purple in colour, medium- to full-bodied, and reflecting its 10 months in oak with soft, gentle tannins and sweet and spicy cedar wood. On the nose and palate it has blackberries, wild berries and purple plums, supported nicely by hints of bitter-sweet chocolate. Blended with 8% Cabernet Franc to add to the aromatics. The finish is long and generous with appealing mineral notes.
