Rhone Classic Wines

Côte du Rhône Villages Chemin des Papes 2004
One of the best value, top of the range wines from one of the 16 villages in the Rhône valley that can use this AC. Higher alcohol content than average with a marvelous spicy flavour. Good drinking now but has plenty of time to improve in the bottle.

Côtes du Rhône, Caves St-Pierre Préference Red 2004/5
Another careful blending from this excellent producer, this time of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah which produces a wine which develops aromas of red fruits and spices. Good length for an easy drinking wine which will keep for 3 or 4 years yet.

Côtes du Rhône, Caves St-Pierre Préference Red 2004/5

Chateauneuf du Pape La Roche du Pape 2003/4
A great example of a famous wine from the southern Rhone valley. From an excellent year, this wine has matured well and now shows all the complexities of its blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. It has the fruit of the Grenache with the pine of the Mourvedre and the spicy richness of the Syrah. Great length on the palate.

Chateauneuf du Pape La Roche du Pape 2003/4

Chateauneuf du Pape Caves St. Pierre 2005/6
A blend of traditional Rhone grape varieties - Grenache for mellowness on the tongue, Syrah which adds depth to the colour and Mourvèdre to supply the tannins that give it its longevity. It has a deep rich purple colour with scents of raspberries, spices and truffles. The aroma is complex yet harmonious and the flavour is full-bodied, well-balanced and generously smooth. It is drinking well now but will mature well for another 5 - 6 years.
